Digital Communications Organizer
Brenda Guigui was born in California, but has called Las Vegas home for 13 years. She comes from a family of organizers who have worked on various political and issue campaigns.
As a single mother of two sassy girls, she understands the daily struggles many mothers face. Layered into her life is the reality that her oldest daughter continues to face life-threatening medical conditions, which have made it even more difficult to try and balance motherhood and a high-demanding career. These struggles have given her a greater sense of purpose and determination.
"I know first-hand how important it is for all working people to have access to policies like paid sick days, paid leave, affordable child care, and a living wage. Before joining Make It Work Nevada, I actually had to choose between my job and being at the hospital with my daughter during a medical emergency."
Brenda understands the desperate need for economic and racial justice and now she dedicates her personal and professional time to raising awareness of the many economic justice issues that affect Nevada’s working families and amplifying the voices of those in the margins.
Brenda is also part of her children’s School Organizing Team, where she along with other parents work on strategic school funding. For fun, Brenda enjoys exploring Southern Nevada’s hidden treasures, from Boulder City’s Train Museum to Mount Charleston. She also enjoys family time, watching movies and arts and crafts with her children. If she could do anything else she would be a full time makeup artist. As a hobby, she has done complimentary makeup applications for an entire wedding party and for other special events. You can keep up with Brenda on Twitter:
